Energy and passion for Mission evident at CHoRE gathering

The passion for enhancing the Lasallian Mission within the District was evident once again at the CHoRE Conference held at St Cassian’s, Kintbury, on Thursday and Friday March 3rd and 4th.

The meeting for Chaplains, Heads of RE and Animators in GB, once again highlighted the benefit of in-person gatherings where the energy, enthusiasm and commitment to the Lasallian ethos helped inspire a renewed sense of confidence in the value of the work being done in our schools.

The event. co-ordinated by the Office of Mission and led by Jo Millea, saw participants strengthen connections, share ideas and discuss common challenges, while also having the opportunity for relaxation and reflection.

One of the highlights was undoubtedly the presentation from David Wells whose unique style and ability to connect proved inspirational.

The conference opened with a reflection from Heather Ruple, Co-ordinator of Mission Initiatives, which gave time to look back on the challenges and joys of the past two years and the importance of finding time and space to reflect. She spoke about the concept of being ‘entrusted’ to maintain the Lasallian Mission and the vital role all in the Lasallian Family play in continuing that Mission.

Heather also looked at the question of creating intentional communities within the school that will nurture the Charism into the future.

The participants then broke into groups of Chaplains, Heads of RE and Animators, where they reflected on what was going well within schools and the challenges they face, and these points were shared with all attendees.

The groups gathered again after dinner to discuss the areas of Lasallian scheme of work, Founder’s Week resources, and the Lasallian student journey. This was followed by evening prayer and social time.

On Friday morning, David Wells delivered his inspiring presentation in which he thanked all for the efforts they make within the schools. He reminded them that despite all the challenges, they are providing a wonderful service to the young people entrusted into their care and that they should be very proud of their efforts.

Reflecting on the success of the event, Jo Millea commented, “This gathering was a wonderful celebration of the fantastic work that is going on in the Schools in GB to nurture and safeguard the young people entrusted to our care but also to nurture and safeguard the Lasallian Educational Mission. The energy, joy and passion was tangible and we have all left feeling inspired and ready to continue the good work in each of our Ministries.”
