Thursday June 19th was a very special day in Monastery NS, Ardee as they had a wonderful Assembly to wish the fantastic Principal, Master Jim McGee a fond farewell for his last official school day and he retires at the end of August.

The community at St Illtyd’s Catholic High School have been very proactive in taking steps to help preserve their unique culture by promoting the use of the Welsh language.

St. Cassian’s Retreat Centre’s Team took a busy expedition to Italy from May 18th to 23rd, doing two service days in a Lasallian Community in Scampia, Naples before heading to Rome for three days, where they received a special greeting from Pope Leo.

Educators at De La Salle Senior School gained new knowledge and skills, which their colleagues shared with them after participating in ERASMUS+ funded courses abroad.

The De La Salle Pastoral Centre in Castletown provides a sacred space and a reminder of God’s Holy Presence.

Recently the Year 7s at De La Salle School Basildon went on retreat at school led by our diocesan youth service. They reflected on the theme of being Pilgrims of Hope.

This year’s past teams retreat at St Cassian’s was the biggest ever, with over 130 people arriving at the centre to celebrate 50 years of the centre’s existence, and 46 years since the first lay team members.

The wide range of volunteering opportunities available to the Lasallian Family has been highlighted in a new directory published by the Institute.

On Friday 13th June, feeder primary schools of St Gregory’s from the Camino Partnership gathered together at the college for a day celebrating the Jubilee and how the theme of Hope can become a part of our lives. 

The annual Cemetery Day will take place on Saturday July 5th, 2025 at 2pm in Castletown. All are invited to join in a Memorial Mass to celebrate the richness of the lives of your loved ones.

All in the District have been saddened by the passing of a number of Brothers in recent weeks. You are asked to remember them in your prayers.

Best wishes to the team of volunteers who will be travelling to India on Monday to help complete a construction project that will provide an education and give hope to many underprivileged children in the in Saint Joseph’s De La Salle School in Keelamudiman, Tamil Nadu.

Over the May Half term, 10 students from St Margaret Ward, alongside staff, went on Pilgrimage to Lourdes. They spent the week serving sick and disabled pilgrims in the Accueil, taking part in Mass and various services, as well as exploring the town of Lourdes and learning more about the apparitions and the story of St Bernadette.

The 15th of May, Founder’s Day, is always a special day for the Lasallian Family. Around the District schools, centres and Brother’s Communities hosted events to celebrate the feast of our Holy Founder, St. John Baptist de La Salle.

Br John Deeney, from the Oxford Community, has shared a poem that celebrates ‘The Spirit of Kintbury’.

At the beginning of March, we celebrated World Book Day 2025 at St Illtyd’s. Pupils took part in a World Book Day quiz during form time, staff dressed up in literary costumes and form classes decorated their doors.

The fact Term 3 has only lasted five weeks has not stopped the students and staff of St Benildus College from cramming the weeks full of fun!

A group of Lasallian volunteers took advantage of the glorious sunshine by holding a fundraising walk to help complete the building of a school in one of the poorest parts of India.
