Ardee school bids farewell to Principal McGee

Thursday June 19th was a very special day in Monastery NS, Ardee as they had a wonderful Assembly to wish the fantastic Principal, Master Jim McGee a fond farewell for his last official school day and he retires at the end of August.

Liam Jackson presents Jim with a signed Louth jersey

The boys and girls in each class delivered beautiful songs, poems and messages to Master McGee commemorating his time in the school.

Liam Jackson, our Louth GAA star past pupil also dropped by to present Master McGee with a signed Louth jersey with the signatures of all 10 past pupils who played on either the Louth Senior or U20s team this year.

Finally, our wonderful Parents' Association took to the stage and informed the boys and girls that an ice cream truck was parked on the yard outside. The children's cheers could be heard all over town!

We all had a wonderful time relaxing and enjoying the sunny weather with our ice creams!!!

In a farewell letter to parents and guardians, Mr McGee revealed that it was a privilege to serve as Principal, as he thanked all who has supported him over the years and wished everyone the very best for the future.

Enjoy your retirement Master McGee!

Monastery NS joined in the celebrations of the Louth GAA footballers who enjoyed great success in recent weeks.

The school (based in County Louth) played a huge part in the success as five former pupils were on the Senior panel, and six on the U-20 team that enjoyed success this year. Tadhg McDonnell and Adam Gillespie brought the cups to the school recently for the Graduation Assembly along with the trophy won by the Ladies team.

It was a really memorable occasion and well done to all.
