International Lasallian Days for Peace
International Lasallian Days for Peace 2022
September 21st – October 21st
Building new pathways for Peace
Dear Brothers, Principals, Animators and MEL Committees members,
In preparation for the 16th International Lasallian Days for Peace (ILDP), and on behalf of the District Young Lasallian Council, I am delighted to share with you a bank of resources for use throughout the month. The District Young Lasallians Council have repurposed and updated material created over the past four years in order to produce a quality resource for you.
The resources are deliberately simple to allow them to be used in a variety of ways, as we recognise each school and centre has different ways of working. Please feel free to use these resources in the way that best suits your students, or communities.
You will find additional starting points for more extended prayers which can be used in assemblies or group meetings.
Please look out in early October for the release of a collaborative, pre-recorded, service created by staff and students from schools throughout the District. This can be used to mark the end of the International Lasallian Day for Peace on October 21st.
We encourage you to get creative and thoughtful about how you could mark your solidarity for peace or response to the theme. We invite you to share your endeavours with us. Please send any updates, stories, or images to Eunan Whyte at eunanwhyte@lasalleigbm.org

ILDP 2021 runs from September 21st to October 21st and this year’s theme is, “Building new pathways for Peace.” Sometimes we need to take a different path in order to see and experience things we never knew existed and sometimes we might need to get lost in life to be able to find a new path which changes life for the better. Very often, it is when we make new connections and friends that new paths emerge and show us how we can build a different future together.
More than ever, it is increasingly important that we all recognise the role we play as peace builders in our schools, communities, and in the wider Lasallian Family. Taking time to consider our own wellbeing and peace of mind is integral to achieving this collective goal.
May we place joy at the heart and centre of our actions and prayers, and in doing so, nurture the gift of ourselves. Together, we can play our part to build new pathways for peace.
Wishing you joyful and peaceful new year ahead.

Prayer Service
Dear Brothers, Principals, Animators and MEL Committees Members,
As we move closer to the end of the month-long International Lasallian Days for Peace (ILDP), I am delighted to share a resource with you in the hope that you can use it in your school communities.
The District Young Lasallian Council, who brought the ILDP prayer resources to you over this past four weeks, have collaborated to create a pre-recorded prayer service to mark the conclusion of ILDP on Friday October 21st.

The service involves readings by students from Beneavin De La Salle College, Ireland; De La Salle School, St Helens; and Stella Maris College, Malta. You’ll also hear heartfelt personal prayers for peace written by students from St Joseph’s College, London, and a wonderful performance of John Lennon’s Imagine by the talented students of De La Salle College, Dundalk.
To all of the staff and students, who supported this project by going the extra mile, we thank you.
We hope that this service will be used with students on or around October 21st to mark this very special day which unites us as an International Lasallian Family.
The recording is also available on our YouTube channel
If you have any photographs or stories related to ILDP, please send them to Eunan Whyte at eunanwhyte@lasalleigbm.org.
We leave you now with the closing words from the service, taken from Amanda Gorman’s poem spoken at the United Nations General Assembly in September of this year; “I only ask that you care before it is too late, that you live aware and awake ,that you lead with love in hours of hate. Above all, I dare you to do good so that the world may be great.”
May Peace be with you always,
District Young Lasallian Council
